Aluminium Framed GRP Ducktail Engine Lid
The now infamous Porsche 911 RS ducktail engine lid cover was standard fitment on the 1973 911 RS for one year only.
This is a faithful reproduction brand new aluminium framed GRP ducktail engine lid. The outer skin is GRP with a gel coat finish. Inside the GRP is complemented with an aluminium frame, just as the originals were back in 1973. The whole thing weighs in at only 4kg. Much sturdier and stiffer than GRP only versions out there, and a much better fit, for only the slightest addition in weight.
All of the important parts where the hinges and latch attach are mounting to aluminium. On cheaper fibreglass only lids they bond in captive inserts in these areas only. This means the mounting of the lid is only as strong as the small amount of resin in these areas. Not the right way to do it, and why Porsche didn’t do it like this in 1973. Ideal for any car that is trying to lose weight for race or road use, the lighter your car the more BHP per ton you have! Now becoming increasingly more popular with backdated cars and hot rod builds.
Yes this product is more expensive than some alternatives out there but remember our products are such good quality and fit they are going to save you money in the long run.
These weigh about 10lb.
Fits:
911 69-89
964 (Using our billet conversion hinges or 964 hinge adapters)
